The Denver Foundation's Strengthening Neighborhoods Program Makes the News

The Denver Foundation's Strengthening Neighborhoods program was in the spotlight recently after Tina Griego, a reporter for The Denver Post, attended their annual Strengthening Neighborhoods Celebration.

Griego said that when this celebration happens next year, "a table should be reserved for those folks who despair that people of different cultures will never be able to work together in this city".  She goes on to point out the spirit of the gathering is evidence that working together is indeed happening every day - but that this is work that is done outside of the limelight and its love of conflict.

Strengthening Neighborhoods, The Denver Foundation's grassroots grantmaking program, gave 197 grants totalling $347,000 last year to resident-initiated and led efforts in ten Denver area neighborhoods.
